What qualifications does a Board Member need to have?
The Board of Directors for Madonna’s Center can have up to 15 active, elected members
at a time. While the board directors share common
beliefs, the organization welcomes diversity, as a strength. If you don’t
have prior experience serving on a Board, but have zeal, passion and/or a genuine
concern for the social justice issues of teen parents, you might be a good candidate
to serve on the Board. If you have talents, skills and experience in at least one
of these areas: program development, financial management, risk assessment, legal
consultation, information technologies, health, education, office organization,
fundraising, event planning, business practices, marketing, grant writing etc. AND
you have at least a few hours a month to give to a worthwhile, pioneering nonprofit
mission, you might be a great candidate. But, if you need to bring your children
along to Board Meetings occasionally, can function in a semi-formal, fun-loving
setting, with a healthy respect for rules and laws, plus the realization it is necessary
to always put your family first – then you’d probably be an OUTSTANDING Board Member!
As you can see, we don’t have the usual photos and bios of our current Board of
Directors on this webpage – but you can be assured, each of the persons listed below
